It’s inevitable that we will experience future pandemics. However, could this pandemic give us a preview of what could happen when we introduce any new biological entity or species to earth from off-world expeditions…🤔

The World Health Organisation declared COVID-19 a global pandemic on 11/3/20 spreading across 110 countries, with over 118,000 cases.

In times of pandemic, we turn to technology to facilitate collective intelligence, bringing the world together to combat the pandemic in various ways, from real-time information data monitoring, predicting and modeling outbreaks, knowledge sharing and use of social media to disseminate information faster while governments co-ordinate and plan out their communications.

A research collective at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) that works on a range of complex and interdisciplinary problems, united by the goal to better understand and improve societal, health and technological systems for everyone have developed a live Covid19 pandemic tracker.

A group is also tracking virus mutations globally as soon as data becomes available, and it appears that initially we identified 2 strains of Covid-19 roaming free across the globe.

A Chinese healthcare internet company WeDoctor has opened up their real-time online global epidemic-prevention and control platform in a bid to integrate medical resources platform of doctors extending free advice services to the world, aiming at helping people — especially those from places in a severe epidemic situation, such as Italy, Japan and Korea — tackle the current difficulties together.

A total of 48,581 doctors (all of whom were the attending and above physicians of the departments of respiratory medicine, infectious diseases, and general medicine from the country’s 3A-grade hospitals) offered consultation services an accumulative 1.61 million times, which was equivalent to the number of hospital admissions of a large tertiary hospital in nearly three months.

Initial services offered, including free online consultation, psychological consultation, convenience clinic, Chinese traditional medicine consultation and remote consultation, to the 1.4 billion Chinese people.

The Singaporean government GovTech team of about 40 engineers spent more than 10,000 man-hours developing TraceTogether and making their source code available free for other countries.
